Reflecting on duck season 2022

With my duck season being finished here in Nebraska I am happy to say that this season was a success. With a compounded three days of scouting and six days hunting, I was able to learn a lot of knowledge in the field. I became better at duck calling. I learned new tactics to set up the spread of decoys. I studied the birds: how they move and how they react to various things both natural and artificial.

I am so grateful for the people that I was able to share a homemade blind or a brush pile with this season. Swapping stories and talking trash to each other in between flights of birds is what makes the early mornings and frigid water all worth it!

I look forward to next season and the stories that are waiting to be told.

1- Beautiful Hen Spoonbill

2- Ducks buzzing by our decoys before shooting light

3- Anticipation grows as the sun begins to rise - Zach gets nestles into cattails

4- Curly tail from a Drake Mallard

5- Duck Nachos

6- Four ducks and four guys - First day of big duck season

7- Zach throwing a decoy with a texas rig

8- Duck Burritos

9- Blue-winged teal lying in the water
